Before 1991, China used to import carbamide. At its peak, the country imported up to 6 million tons. After 1999, as the price of carbamide in the international market began to rise, the scale of Chinese carbamide production began to increase. Now, with continuing rising prices, Chinese-produced carbamide has become competitive in the international market, especially in the neighboring Southeast Asian market. Due to the great increase in ocean freight, compared to other key carbamide exporting countries-CIS and the Middle East, Chinese carbamide has a relatively strong regional advantage in Southeast Asia.
Ever since June, 2000, when SinoFert exported its first shipment of carbamide to Vietnam, SinoFert's, fertilizer export business, especially the export of carbamide, has been continually increasing its share in the international market. In 2003, SinoFert's fertilizer export accounted for approximately 10% of the total volume of fertilizer exported in China. In the year 2004, SinoFert was listed as one of the TOP 10 fertilizer exporting companies in China. In 2005, SinoFert's own brand-compound fertilizer from Fujian Zhisheng Fertilizer Co., Ltd. scored a "zero breakthrough" in export.
Most of SinoFert's investment projects in fertilizer have commenced production in succession, providing the corporation with favorable supplemental support and stability. The company believes that SinoFert's export of its own brand of fertilizer will rise annually. Currently, the corporation's fertilizers are mostly exported to Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan.
Faced with fertilizer's fluctuating price in the international market, and as a large enterprise of international fame, SinoFert strongly maintains the belief in strict adherence to the contract and quality service. As a result, the corporation has gained the trust of important clients in the fertilizer market. SinoFert has established solid ties with clients both at home and abroad, enjoying long-term supply agreements with some important end clients.
