What level of self efficiency rate is a safe level? The No. 1 Document to be released in the beginning of next year might provide an answer.
At present, the No. 1 Document of the CPC has been modified several times. On the Rural Area Working Conference of the CPC on the 23rd of this month, suggestions will be solicited on the most updated version. After that, in January next year, the document will be released and its key content will be to guarantee food security.
Based on this, in the No. 1 Document, the self efficiency rates for the 3 major crops, i.e. wheat, rice and corn, will be readjusted, with the overall self efficiency rate of grains in China should be maintained at over 80%.
